Fresh Produce

We grow a wide range of vegetables so that there should be something available all year round. Of course, that means that sometimes there is less variety than others (think of the ‘hungry gap’ in the spring, when everything is growing, but nothing is ready!) but nonetheless we try to have something fresh for each day.

This year we are growing…

In the polytunnel: aubergines, cucumbers, padron peppers, sweet peppers, tomatoes.

In the field: carnations, chrysanthemums, beetroot, brussels sprouts, calabrese, carrots, courgettes, french beans, gladioli, kale, leeks, onions, parsnips, potatoes, red cabbage, runner beans, spring cabbage, sunflowers and sweetcorn.

In the small plot near the church: beetroot, broad beans, borlotti beans, cabbage, cannelli beans, cauliflowers, garlic, lettuce, onions, shallots, sweetcorn.

In the green houses: small quantities of nectarines, red table grapes lemons and limes, herbs including basil and coriander.

A vine on the back of the cottage has in some years produced a sufficient quantity of white grapes to make a passable wine!
